Max Cooper:

Perpetual Motion was written for that moment at the end of the night when all the experiments and madness is over and we just need a nice warm chord sequence to send us home in a good mood.

The name comes from its role in my new visual show, where it plays that same closing role in the story of humans “yearning for the infinite”. Set to drone footage of people in their endless pursuit of life in Mexico City, combined with epic scientific visualisations of different infinite structures. It’s all part of a project commission from the Barbican, which has spawned this new album and live visual experiment. I’ll have to tell you more about all that sometime!
