In Cycles
Mesh welcomes LA-based producer data cluster to the label with In Cycles, a four-track EP of mind-altered productions out Friday 27th November.
Conceptualised around a parallel reality in which collective inertia has led to a heavily medicated, numb population that struggles to grasp reality; data Center takes familiar sonic references and morphs them through a new and uncanny lens.
‘In Cycles’ opens with time-lapsed pitch bends slowly weaving their way through a sea of glass bells and vocal flickers. Shifting gear, ‘Coalx’ puts a tweak in 2-step, layering complex, machine-driven rhythms against melancholic rhodes keys. ‘Aetherion’ follows suit with a turbo charged garage beat twisted through the mainframe, where chaos and order go head to head. Rounding things off, ‘Delta Aurigae’ syncopates hard drums and fragments of electro house into new shapes, like a trance-soaked sunset over a giant computer city.
With each shift in genre feeling like a new crack in reality, In Cycles finds beauty in synthetic melancholy.
‘In Cycles’ lands Friday 27th November via Mesh.
